Scion Audio Visual (Scion A/V) continues on its progressive path of supporting independent artistic expression, this time by partnering with the infamous blog Discobelle to present Scion CD Sampler V. 24: Discobelle. Comprised of Discobelle's pick of their favorite current artists from their native Sweden and abroad, the comp is packed to the core with a mix of dance floor bangers and chill out music alike.
As always, Scion A/V takes no money on these releases, with 100% of the proceeds going directly back to the artitsts and labels involved- not bad huh?
Please download, play, share, and blog about this release.
1. Top Billin - Playboy Anthem: This Finish DJ collective has already had a big impact on the scene the last couple of years with their killer club edits and original tracks. Obviously, they also run the club scene in Helsinki. This track has a ton of club potential and should be looked at seriously as an anthem in the coming months!
2. Oh Snap!! - Bill C*sby Sweater (Kazey and Bulldog Remix): Oh Snap!! out of Baltimore manages to look fresh and still brings fun to the table in this track about his new outfit....and then these French dudes do it big by switching the track into cut-up club mayhem, lacing it with the Bmore breaks that we've all grown to love so much.
3. Maskinen - Bränner: What happens if you get the illest hip hop MCs from Sweden to spit over pumped up electro? This is as close to Swedish baile funk as you're ever going to get.
4. Emynd feat Kate Pascoe - Don't Say Goodbye: Philly stand up! New generation Baltimore club champ Emynd provides us with an epic big room anthem combining elements that typify his recent DJ sets. Huge kick drums, a melodic synth line, and stuttering Bmore horns provide the backdrop for Kate Pascoe's effortless crooning, giving the song a timeless-yet-contemporary feel that defies genre restrictions.
5. Jamtech Foundation - The Youth Need Bass: After promoting and releasing reggae and dancehall records and parties for a long time, Stockholm DJs Mastah-L and DJ Niceness began fusing what they loved about caribbean music with distinct electronic music. This tune is nothing short of a wobbly bass in your face banger with super ill breaks.
6. Don Rimini - Karaté: First Don Rimini made all of us freak out. Then he got radical on us. Now he kicks us in the face... and runs away. Bass heavy tune that was defined for prime time party madness on the dance floor. Don't sleep on this one.
7. Stockholm Syndrome- "My World";: Coming in at 127 BPM this tune will serve as a great segue into your prime-time material. With its nice rolling basslines and four on the floor beat this jam will have party people two steppin' immediately.
8. Familjen - Socker: Hässleholms finest! The first new track in a long time from this established Swedish artist should leave no fans disappointed. Distorted synths and clean vocals make this a must have in your crates!
9. Dada LIfe - Smile You're On Dada: Another uptempo banger, this one is different from the rest of the tunes and has the most "big room" potential. Dada Life takes it to the masses using over-driven bass lines and super clean leads.
10. Pets On Prozac - Tan, Still Unhappy: Stars from one of the most interesting Scandinavian labels at the moment - New Judas. Unpredictable each time, but always with a signature thick and deep vibe. This tune is close to minimal, but isn't.
11. Boeoes Kaelstigen - Marsa: This Swedish duo takes you on dark and moody ride that slowly evolves into a track that the techno dance floor craves to hear. Irresistible.
12. Dmitry Fyodorov - Leisure (Dmitry's Armageddon edit): The legend says this Russian hockey player disappeared 30 years ago but came back in spirit to destroy dance floors the same way he destroyed competitors. He's back. And it's like getting cross-checked by a bassline. Really bangin drums and big drums make this another prime time killer.
